What should I bring to my first appointment?

You can also complete your patient forms online before your visit through our Online Forms page.

We encourage you to call our office at (413) 774-6553 before your appointment so we can verify your benefits and help you understand your coverage. We will always discuss your treatment costs and insurance coverage with you before beginning any procedure.

Services & Treatment Questions
What dental services does Turners Falls Dental offer?
Turners Falls Dental provides comprehensive dental care including preventive exams and cleanings, composite fillings, dental crowns, root canals, tooth extractions, dental implants, bridges, gum disease treatment, pediatric dentistry, dental sealants, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, CEREC same-day crowns, SureSmile® clear aligners, and Cone Beam CT imaging. Visit our Dental Services page for a complete overview.
What is a CEREC same-day crown?
CEREC is an advanced dental technology that allows Dr. Collura to design, mill, and place a custom all-ceramic crown in a single appointment — typically in about 90 minutes. There are no messy impressions, no temporary crowns, and no second visit required. Turners Falls Dental is one of the only practices in Franklin County offering this technology, and every CEREC crown comes with a 10-year warranty. Learn more on our CEREC page.
Do you offer teeth straightening without braces?
Yes. Turners Falls Dental offers SureSmile® clear aligners — a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment that gradually straightens teeth using a series of removable, custom-fitted trays. SureSmile® is a great option for adults and teens who want straighter teeth without the look or discomfort of traditional metal braces.
Can you help if I haven’t been to the dentist in several years?
Absolutely. We see patients in all stages of dental health, and we never judge. Dr. Collura and his team will perform a thorough exam, take any necessary X-rays, and put together a clear, manageable treatment plan to get your oral health back on track. The most important step is simply scheduling that first appointment — call (413) 774-6553 and we’ll take care of the rest.
Do you use digital X-rays?
Yes. Turners Falls Dental uses digital X-ray technology, which produces significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays and allows Dr. Collura to view your images immediately on screen. We also offer Cone Beam CT 3D imaging for advanced diagnostic and treatment planning needs such as dental implant placement and root canal evaluation.
How do I know if I need a root canal?
Common signs that you may need a root canal include persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to heat or cold that lingers after the source is removed, swelling or tenderness in the gums, a bump on the gum near a tooth, or a darkened tooth. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, call (413) 774-6553 to schedule an evaluation. Root canal treatment at Turners Falls Dental is performed with advanced technology to be as comfortable as possible.
Oral Health & Prevention Questions
How often should I visit the dentist?
Most patients benefit from a professional exam and cleaning every six months. Patients with gum disease, a history of frequent cavities, or other risk factors may be recommended for more frequent visits — every three to four months. Dr. Collura will establish a personalized recall schedule based on your specific oral health needs.
At what age should my child first see a dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit a dentist by their first birthday or shortly after their first tooth appears. Early visits help Dr. Collura monitor development, identify any concerns, and help your child build positive associations with dental care. Learn more about our pediatric dentistry services.
What are dental sealants and does my child need them?
Dental sealants are protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to seal out bacteria and prevent cavities. Dr. Collura recommends them for children after the eruption of their first and second permanent molars. Importantly, Turners Falls Dental uses only BPA-free sealant materials — a standard not all dental offices follow.
